Nancy Pelosi’s Asia Tour
After a two-day trip, Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker, left
Taiwan on Wednesday. She met with Taiwan's president and made vows to protect
democracy on Taiwan in the face threats from mainland China.
Mrs. Pelosi, the highest-ranking U.S. authorized to
official visit Taiwan in a quarter-century, now heads to South Korea and Japan
earlier returning to the United State.

commitment Taiwan during her meeting with President TsaiIng-wen. She also said
that her visit was part of a larger struggle for democracy's future.

around Taipei after Mrs. Pelosi arrived in Taipei.
Nancy Pelosi Trip Delayed Tesla Supplier CATL's North America Plant Announcement
China's top electric-vehicle battery manufacturer has put
off plans to announce its first North American facility. This is due to
political fallout from Nancy Pelosi, the U.S. House Speaker.
People familiar with the matter stated that Tesla-supplier
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. wanted to announce plans for a plant in
North America as soon as possible. They had considered sites in Mexico and the
U.S., but decided to hold off. They said that it decided to delay the
announcement due to concerns that public criticism would result from making an
announcement at a time when tensions between the U.S. and China are rising.
Kremlin Again Criticizes Nancy Pelosi’s Taiwan Visit as ‘Sheer Provocation’
The Kremlin has reiterated its disapproval regarding House
Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Taiwan as a "sheer provocation" under
the pretense of showing that they support democracy on Taiwan, and warned that
nothing positive could come out of the trip.
“It’s impossible to underestimation the level of tension
that was triggered by this visit,” Kremlin narrator Dmitry Peskov told
reporters Wednesday.
"This doesn't seem to be a slur intended to support
freedom or democratic principles. It's a pure act of provocation. It's essential
to label these actions what they are," Russia's state news agency, TASS,
cited him as declaring.
Peskov said that from Moscow's point of view "no
political goals should and cannot be achieved by such provocative steps."
The remarks came after the speaker, Mrs. Pelosi, the
highest-ranking U.S. official to visit Taiwan in the last quarter century she
left Taiwan on Wednesday following a chaotic two-day visit that included a
dinner with Taiwan's president, and a pledge to protect democratic principles
in the face of threat from mainland China who claim sovereignty over the island
that it self-rules.
The relations with Russia with China have gotten closer in
recent times as they have never been closer since the beginning in the Cold
War. Both countries have decided to oppose Western influence on their nations
their internal affairs and to strengthen collaboration as both are under
threats by both the U.S. and Europe.
The Mr. Peskov said Wednesday that there was no immediate
plan in place for Russian president Vladimir Putin to contact his Chinese
counterpart, Xi Jinping, regarding the visit of Mrs. Pelosi's trip, but said
China knew of the Russian policy position.
“Beijing knows very well that we support the ‘One China’ program, that we support the sovereignty of China, that, beyond any distrust, we support China’s thought-out and stable steps to maintain and strengthen its sovereignty,” Mr. Peskov was cited as saying.
The White House statement last week included the president Biden as having said"that "the United States strongly opposes unilateral efforts to change the status quo or undermine peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait."
China’s Military Looms Larger, as Nancy Pelosi Leaves Taiwan
After a
hectic trip, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi left Taiwan. This trip raised
military tensions on the island to their highest point in over two decades. An
escalation that will continue long after her return home.
After Mrs.
Pelosi (D. Calif.) had wrapped up a day with Taiwan's president and senior
legislators and executives, and was due to leave Taiwan on Wednesday afternoon,
China's navy had already moved into position for large-scale live-fire drills
that will begin Thursday.
Pelosi's
trip was intended to strengthen America's unwavering commitment to Taiwan's
democracy. According to Taipei's defence ministry Taipei also claims that
Beijing has been conducting military activities in the territorial waters of
Taiwan. This could increase the pressure on the island, which is the most
sensitive point in U.S.-China relations.
