together on silver screens following a lengthy absence. The buzz is
real with expectations rising - but why is social media teeming with the
hashtag "Boycott Laal Singh Chaddha"? The reason
lies in the main actors and their statements regarding the country were not
made yesterday, but in the period of time.
WHY? BOYCOTT LAAL SINGH CHADDHA
Internet users are
trending #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha on Twitter, influencing every person to not
watch the film. Reason? Aamir Khan's
controversial "India's growing intolerance" statement that he made in
the past is getting circulated, while some of Kareena's controversial remarks
from the past have also been discovered by haters.
Aamir
Khan, in his interview from 2015 stated "Our country is very tolerant, but
there are people who spread ill-will". He and his
wife Kiran Rao also made headlines when she said she was considering leaving
the country due to the security for their kids.
HOW AMIR KHAN REACTED?
Aamir Khan, who is on the trending hashtag for boycotts spoke to the media at an event that was a collective
media gathering, encouraging viewers to see his films. "Yes, I
feel sad. Also, I feel unhappy that some of the individuals who are saying this,
in their hearts, they truly believe that I am someone who doesn't like India.
In their hearts, they believe, but it is not true. I truly love the republic...
That is how I am. It is rather unfortunate that some individuals feel that
way," the actor said.
HOW KAREENA KAPOOR KHAN REACTED?
Kareena responded to the boycott movement and
stated to India Today, "There are different platforms. Everyone has an
opinion. So now, if that is going to be there, then you have to learn to
overlook certain things. Else, it will just become unbearable to live your
life. And that is why I do not take any of this like very seriously."
